Daniel 8:9-13 GNB . . .Out of one of these four horns grew a little horn, whose power extended toward the south and the east and toward the Promised Land. (10) It grew strong enough to attack the army of heaven [the very idea of righteousness and good], the stars themselves, and it threw some of them to the ground and trampled on them. (11) It even defied the Prince of the heavenly army, stopped the daily sacrifices offered to him, and ruined the Temple. (12) People sinned there instead of offering the proper daily sacrifices, and true religion was thrown to the ground. The horn was successful in everything it did. (13) Then I heard one angel ask another, "How long will these things that were seen in the vision continue? How long will an awful sin replace the daily sacrifices? How long will the army of heaven and the Temple be trampled on?"
Daniel 8:9-13 CEV . . .A little horn came from one of these, and its power reached to the south, the east, and even to the holy land. (10) It became so strong that it attacked the stars in the sky, which were heaven's army. Then it threw some of them down to the earth and stomped on them. (11) It humiliated heaven's army and dishonored its leader by keeping him from offering the daily sacrifices. In fact, it was so terrible that it even disgraced the temple and wiped out true worship. It also did everything else it wanted to do. (12) (SEE 8:11) (13) Then one of the holy angels asked another, "When will the daily sacrifices be offered again? What about this horrible rebellion? When will the temple and heaven's army no longer be trampled in the dust?"
Daniel 8:9-13 GW . . .Out of one of the horns came a small horn. It gained power over the south, the east, and the beautiful land. (10) It continued to gain power until it reached the army of heaven. It threw some of the army of heaven, the stars, down on the ground and trampled them. (11) Then it attacked the commander of the army so that it took the daily burnt offering from him and wrecked his holy place. (12) In its rebelliousness it was given an army to put a stop to the daily burnt offering. It threw truth on the ground. The horn was successful in everything it did. (13) Then I heard a holy one speaking. Another holy one said to the one who was speaking, "How long will the things in this vision-the daily burnt offering, the destructive rebellion, the surrender of the holy place, and the trampling of the army-take place?"
Daniel 8:9-13 BBE . . .And out of one of them came another horn, a little one, which became very great, stretching to the south and to the east and to the beautiful land. (10) And it became great, even as high as the army of heaven, pulling down some of the army, even of the stars, to the earth and crushing them under its feet. (11) It made itself great, even as great as the lord of the army; and by it the regular burned offering was taken away, and the place overturned and the holy place made waste. (12) (UNTRANSLATED TEXT) against the regular burned offering; and (UNTRANSLATED TEXT) crushed down to the earth, and it did its pleasure and things went well for it. (13) Then there came to my ears the voice of a holy one talking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was talking, How long will the vision be while the regular burned offering is taken away, and the unclean thing causing fear is put up, and the holy place crushed under foot?
