Hebrews 5:7-6:3 GNB . . .In his life on earth Jesus made his prayers and requests with loud cries and tears to God, who could save him from death. Because he was humble and devoted, God heard him. (8) But even though he was God's Son, he learned through his sufferings to be obedient. [Christ was God's Son and had never been tested by anything bad before...] (9) When he was made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him, (10) and God declared him to be high priest, in the priestly order of Melchizedek. (11) There is much we have to say about this matter, but it is hard to explain to you, because you are so slow to understand. (12) There has been enough time for you to be teachers---yet you still need someone to teach you the first lessons of God's message. Instead of eating solid food, you still have to drink milk. (13) Anyone who has to drink milk is still a child, without any experience in the matter of right and wrong. (14) Solid food, on the other hand, is for adults, who through practice are able to distinguish between good and evil.
Hebrews 6:1-3 GNB Let us go forward, then, to mature teaching and leave behind us the first lessons of the Christian message. We should not lay again the foundation of turning away from useless works and believing in God; (2) of the teaching about baptisms and the laying on of hands; of the resurrection of the dead and the eternal judgment. (3) Let us go forward! And this is what we will do, if God allows.
Hebrews 5:7-6:3 . . .GW During his life on earth, Jesus prayed to God, who could save him from death. He prayed and pleaded with loud crying and tears, and he was heard because of his devotion to God. (8) Although Jesus was the Son of God, he learned to be obedient [under test] through his sufferings. (9) After he had finished his work, he became the source of eternal salvation for everyone who obeys him. (10) God appointed him chief priest in the way Melchizedek was a priest. (11) We have a lot to explain about this. But since you have become too lazy to pay attention, explaining it to you is hard. (12) By now you should be teachers. Instead, you still need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word. You need milk, not solid food. (13) All those who live on milk lack the experience to talk about what is right. They are still babies. (14) However, solid food is for mature people, whose minds are trained by practice to know the difference between good and evil.
Hebrews 6:1-3 GW With this in mind, we should stop going over the elementary truths about Christ and move on to topics for more mature people. We shouldn't repeat the basics about turning away from the useless things we did and the basics about faith in God. (2) We shouldn't repeat the basic teachings about such things as baptisms, setting people apart for holy tasks, dead people coming back to life, and eternal judgment. (3) If God permits, we will do this.
Hebrews 5:7-6:3 CEV . . .God had the power to save Jesus from death. And while Jesus was on earth, he begged God with loud crying and tears to save him. He truly worshiped God, and God listened to his prayers. (8) Jesus is God's own Son, but still he had to suffer before he could learn what it really means to obey God. (9) Suffering made Jesus perfect, and now he can save forever all who obey him. (10) This is because God chose him to be a high priest like Melchizedek. (11) Much more could be said about this subject. But it is hard to explain, and all of you are slow to understand. (12) By now you should have been teachers, but once again you need to be taught the simplest things about what God has said. You need milk instead of solid food. (13) People who live on milk are like babies who don't really know what is right. (14) Solid food is for mature people who have been trained to know right from wrong.
Hebrews 6:1-3 CEV We must try to become mature and start thinking about more than just the basic things we were taught about Christ. We shouldn't need to keep talking about why we ought to turn from deeds that bring death and why we ought to have faith in God. (2) And we shouldn't need to keep teaching about baptisms or about the laying on of hands or about people being raised from death and the future judgment. (3) Let's grow up, if God is willing.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
