John 20:24-29 CEV Although Thomas the Twin was one of the twelve disciples, he wasn't with the others when Jesus appeared to them (after his resurrection). (25) So they told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But Thomas said, "First, I must see the nail scars in his hands and touch them with my finger. I must put my hand where the spear went into his side. I won't believe unless I do this!" (26) A week later the disciples were together again. This time, Thomas was with them. Jesus came in while the doors were still locked and stood in the middle of the group. He greeted his disciples [saying may you have peace] (27) and said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and look at my hands! Put your hand into my side. Stop doubting and have faith!" (28) Thomas replied, "You are my Lord and my God!" (29) Jesus said, "Thomas, do you have faith because you have seen me? The people who have faith in me without seeing me are the ones who are really blessed!"
John 20:24-29 GW Thomas, one of the twelve apostles, who was called Didymus, wasn't with them when Jesus came. (25) The other disciples told him, "We've seen the Lord." (26) A week later Jesus' disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Even though the doors were locked, Jesus stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" (27) Then Jesus said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Take your hand, and put it into my side. Stop doubting, and believe." (28) Thomas responded to Jesus, "My Lord and my God!" (29) Jesus said to Thomas, "You believe because you've seen me. Blessed are those who haven't seen me but believe."
John 20:24-29 GNB One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (called the Twin), was not with them when Jesus came. (25) So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" Thomas said to them, "Unless I see the scars of the nails in his hands and put my finger on those scars and my hand in his side, I will not believe." (26) A week later the disciples were together again indoors, and Thomas was with them. The doors were locked, but Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you." (27) Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and look at my hands; then reach out your hand and put it in my side. Stop your doubting, and believe!" (28) Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!" (29) Jesus said to him, "Do you believe because you see me? How happy are those who believe without seeing me!"

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
