Luke 23:39-43 - Cureton's Translation of the Old Syriac / Curetonian Gospels
William Cureton's 1858 translation of the Old Syriac manuscripts. The Old Syriac is the source text behind Lamsa and Etheridge. The complete Syriac tradition for this passage reads in English as:
39 And one of those workers of evil who were hanged with him, blasphemed against him, saying, If thou art the Meshicha, deliver thyself, and deliver us also.
40 And his companion rebuked him, and said to him, Dost thou not fear (even) Aloha (יהוה)? for thou also art in this judgment.
41 And we righteously, forasmuch as we have been deserving, and as we are punished for that which we have done;
42 but this hath done nothing that is abominable. "And he said to Jesus, My Lord, remember me whem thou comest in thy kingdom. 43 Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee to-day, that with me thou shalt be in the Eden's garden"
Reject badness and express faith in Christ,
even if it is with your last breath.
Don't get trapped among religious people,
as they debate their own doctrine. [
Mat 15:7-9]
Be with Christ in the restored Garden of Eden!
Lukas 23:39-43 OJB - Orthodox Jewish Bible
39 And one of the criminals having been hanged with him was saying, Are you not the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach?
40 Save yourself and us. And in reply the other, rebuking him, said, Do you not have yirat Shomayim [fear of Heaven]? For you are under the same gezar din [verdict] of condemnation.
41 And this is a just gezar din against us, for we deserve what we are getting for our ma'asim [deeds]. But this one did nothing rah [evil].
42 And he was saying, Yehoshua, remember me when you come into your Malchut [Kingdom].
43 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said to him, Omein, I say to you hayom [common Hebrew Bible Oath], with me you will be in Gan Eden.
[Simple meaning: Gan Eden = Garden of Eden.]

Hebrew text of verse 43:
וַיֹאמֶר יֵשׁוּעַ אֵלָיו אָמֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לְךָ כִּי הַיּוֹם תִּהְיֶה עִמָּדִי בְּגַן־עֵדֶן
English:
"Verily I today say unto thee [a common Hebrew oath], thou shall be with me in paradise; in the garden of Eden"
Luke 23:39-43 George Lamsa Translation
From the Ancient Eastern Text (Aramaic Peshitta)
This is the most widely available Aramaic translation. This edition reads:
39 Now one of the malefactors who were crucified with him, blasphemed against him, saying, If you are the Christ, save yourself and save us also.
40 But the other rebuked him, and said to him, Do you not fear even God, for you are also in the same judgment?
41 And ours is just, for we are paid as we deserve and as we have done; but he has done nothing wrong.
42 And he said to Jesus, Remember me, my Lord, when you come in your kingdom.
43 Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you today, you will be with me in Paradise.
Luke 23:39-43 NWT 39 But one of the hung evildoers [crucified on either side of Christ] began to say abusively to him: “You are the Christ, are you not? Save yourself and us.” 40 In reply the other rebuked him and said: “Do you not fear God at all, now that you are in the same judgment? 41 And we, indeed, justly so, for we are receiving in full what we deserve for things we did; but this [man] did nothing out of the way.” 42 And he went on to say: “Jesus, remember me when you get into your kingdom.” 43 And he said to him: “Truly I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.”
Luke 23:39-43 GW One of the criminals hanging there insulted Jesus by saying, "So you're really the Messiah, are you? Well, save yourself and us!" (40) But the other criminal scolded him: "Don't you fear God at all? Can't you see that you're condemned in the same way that he is? (41) Our punishment is fair. We're getting what we deserve. But this man hasn't done anything wrong." (42) Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you enter your kingdom." (43) Jesus said to him, "I can guarantee this truth: Today you will be with me in paradise."
Luke 23:39-43 GNB One of the criminals hanging there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!" (40) The other one, however, rebuked him, saying, "Don't you fear God? You received the same sentence he did. (41) Ours, however, is only right, because we are getting what we deserve for what we did; but he has done no wrong." (42) And he said to Jesus, "Remember me, Jesus, when you come as King!" (43) Jesus said to him, "I promise you that today you will be in Paradise with me."
Luke 23:39-43 ESV One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!" (40) But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? (41) And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." (42) And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." (43) And he said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
